Garden Architecture

The goal from the project onset was to remove a suspended 'faux' ceiling in the back portion of Garden Architecture's existing space, and open the space up to the twenty-foot tall roof structure above while leaving and preserving the decades old wood beams and columns. The planned exterior work involved removing and replacing the existing roof cladding with a standing seam product, replacing all of the existing glazing, their frames, and cladding the back lane elevation of the building over the existing stucco. It was determined that the existing beams and columns could not be used to support the existing structure any longer, and that the entire roof assembly would have to be replaced. Strata framed a new wood load bearing wall in front of the existing perimeter walls, to pick up the load of a new wood roof truss system and keep the existing wood beams and columns as architectural features. The existing concrete slab was poured over with a new concrete slab and polished and sealed to an industrial finish. The exterior walls and the tall, pitched roof ceiling were spray-foam insulated, drywalled, painted, and finished with feature lights, fans, and perimeter power completing this new/old warehouse renovation.
