Rheumatology Associates revitalised their large clinic with a revised layout, and with new flooring, lighting, furniture, and a fresh coat of paint. Workflow efficiency was increased by adding a new corridor and by reorganizing the administration area. Staff areas, including a washroom, storage spaces, and a kitchen, were made more spacious and comfortable. The most profound change was to the reception area where a large, custom millwork desk, complete with a section of frosted glass, was used to provide discreet areas for waiting patients, front desk staff, and administration staff. Using the millwork—rather than walls—to divide spaces provides greater efficiency for staff, natural light to all, and a grand and sophisticated look to the clinic.
